Incentive Insight – Sorrento, Italy

Posted by: Rebecca on July 6th, 2012 IN Conferences

150x150px_The Amalfi coast and Sorrento are famous for plump lemons and quintessential southern Italian towns that cling to steep hills and look out across the dramatic Bay of Naples. The romance of the area is undeniable, but there are also some great spots for meetings and incentives.

Line Up team member, Rebecca White, recently spent a couple of days in the region to find out more. If you want any further information do give Rebecca a call.

Top venue

Hilton Sorrento Palace

The vast venue space at the Hilton is suited for all group sizes. There are 3 auditoriums – one of which seats up to 1,500 people. The exhibition space can be divided into 8 separate rooms and there are numerous catering areas of all shapes and sizes. The venue boasts indoor restaurants, terraces and a garden area that can seat up to 1,000 and is perfect for warm evenings.

Eating and entertaining

Bellevue Syrene Hotel

One evening we indulged in a 4-course, authentic Italian meal at the beautiful Bellevue Syrene Hotel. The setting was breathtaking and a pianist played as the sun set, making it very memorable evening.

Villa Tre Ville

This hotel is a short boat trip from Positano beach. The location is stunning, set into the cliffs and surrounded by the sea. The villa has one outdoor catering area and a number of lounges. Villa Tre Ville doesn’t have a menu; they grow their own crops and catch their own fish so serve whatever they have in that day. It was Italian home cooking at its very best and complete heaven.

Visits and day trips

Pompeii

This was the first place we visited after we landed in Naples. The flight took under three hours and to be transported from bustling Gatwick directly to a site frozen in time 2,000 years ago was quite remarkable.

Positano

The town is perched on steep slopes that drop into the sea. You really feel like you’ve discovered a hidden gem as you wander round the wonderful narrow streets, which are laced with linen shops.
